My husband Peter and I are extremely happy and proud to be the new owners of the largest destination art materials store in Southern Africa.
Art has always been a passion of mine. I thoroughly enjoy painting with acrylics and oils as well as sketching. In 2011, when I was expecting my first child, I wanted to be able to work from home and raise my son.
That’s when I decided to open my own online store. I grew my business strength to strength and loved to inspire the artists I worked with daily. I hope to continue inspiring and helping artists through The Deckle Edge.
Peter is no stranger to the art industry, like Pippa, he grew up in the art world. He worked for his father Chris, who ran one of South Africa’s largest art material import businesses in Johannesburg.
The Deckle Edge was one of his customers in Cape Town. I strongly recall Peter coming back from a work trip many years ago and telling me about this amazing art shop in Cape Town. He said it was the best he’s ever seen , locally or abroad, and that he eagerly wanted me to see it!

Both Peter and I love nature and have always wanted to live in Cape Town with our children to enjoy all that this beautiful city has to offer.
When we heard that The Deckle Edge was for sale, we knew that we needed to do whatever it took to make our dream a reality and promptly set our plans in motion. It took some time and careful planning, but we are finally here.
Taking the reins of The Deckle Edge is an honour for both of us and we cannot wait to continue and grow what Dot, Bruce and Pippa started all those years ago.
We cannot possibly do this without the excellent staff. We’ve only had a short period to work with everyone, but they have shown us their passion for the art industry and their commitment to all of our customers.
